The Role
We're looking for a skilled Mid-Level Software Engineer to contribute to the development and implementation of scalable software solutions. You'll work with modern programming languages, frameworks, and architectures to build robust systems. As a key team member, you'll collaborate on technical initiatives, receive mentorship, and tackle challenging software problems. This position is considered a remote position, with some travel to the Dayton, Ohio office on an as needed basis.

The Role
We're looking for a skilled Mid-Level Software Engineer to contribute to the development and implementation of scalable software solutions. You'll work with modern programming languages, frameworks, and architectures to build robust systems. As a key team member, you'll collaborate on technical initiatives, receive mentorship, and tackle challenging software problems. Essential Responsibilities
Software Development & Engineering
- Design, develop, and integrate software solutions across the development lifecycle, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Develop and optimize multi-language software systems, primarily using C/C++, Python, Java, and Rust.
- Build and maintain full-stack applications leveraging JavaScript UI frameworks (React, Redux, Angular) and backend technologies (Python, Rust).
- Write efficient, high-quality code following Agile methodologies, ensuring maintainability and scalability.
- Collaborate on enhancing usability, performance, and security of existing software solutions.
- Assist in debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting software applications, with support from senior team members.
- Contribute to modernizing legacy systems to improve maintainability and scalability.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with test teams to integrate and resolve defects.
- Receive guidance and mentorship from senior engineers to foster technical growth and best practices.
Programming Expertise
- 3+ years of experience in full-stack development using JavaScript (React, Redux, Angular), TypeScript, and backend technologies (Python or Rust).
- Strong understanding of C/C++ and Python for system-level programming.
- Proficiency in Java and shell scripting languages.
- Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (Git, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with bug tracking and issue management tools (JIRA, etc.).
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Understanding of secure coding practices and software assurance principles.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and DevSecOps principles.
- Familiarity with gaming engines, such as Unity.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, encryption, or secure communications.
