Full Job Description

We are seeking a contract junior designer to join Refresh Your Space, a boutique residential studio located in San Mateo.

We are seeking a candidate who has completed an interior design or interior architecture degree. We will consider candidates with degrees in other fields that bring experience in high end residential design. Must have 2 years of experience in interior design, or a related discipline such as high-end furniture, or luxury home retail. Experience with soft goods is a plus.

Must be comfortable taking initiative, be organized and detail oriented, and have strong AutoCad drafting skills. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule. Must be available to work part time in our San Mateo office, as well as visit Bay Area job sites as needed with your own transportation.

Duties

Design duties:

Support the Principal Designer and associate Designers

Assist with walk throughs, client presentations, and project documentation

Assist with schematic design, design development, and project management

Create proposals, purchase orders, invoices

Draft floor plans, space plans, elevations, and furniture layouts

Source products such as plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, finishes, and soft goods

Vendor Coordination Duties

Interface with vendors and contractors to align with the project scope of work

Maintain relationships with vendors to request quotes, ensure all details and documents are updated prior to finalizing orders

Check and update product order status, quality check shipments, and coordinate deliveries to job sites

Provide on-site support during deliveries and installations, ensuring proper placement per the design plan

Project Management Duties

Errands and visits to job sites as needed

Coordinating punch list and verifying everything is complete and the client is satisfied

Qualifications

Professional in manner and appearance

Strong work ethic

Self-starter with good time management skills

Good attention to detail, and follow-through

Dependable, resourceful, and service oriented

Capable of multitasking, and handling several projects simultaneously

Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills

Able to work both independently, and as part of a team

Have your own laptop, and be proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Asana, and Houzz Pro would be a plus
