BITCO Corporation, headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking a Director, Enterprise Architecture to join our team. With 11 branch offices in 10 states, BITCO provides quality insurance services to special industries including Construction, Forest Products, and Oil & Gas.
Position Summary
The Director, Enterprise Architecture (EA) plays a critical role in ensuring the company's technological platforms are in alignment with business strategies. This role will be responsible for documenting, defining, and maintaining the overall enterprise/reference architecture of the organization's IT eco-system, to ensure alignment with and support scalability of business growth. The EA will guide technology decisions across the organization, establish development/architecture standards adhered to by internal development teams and external partners. This role will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, application development teams, infrastructure teams, and security experts to design scalable, secure, and efficient solutions enabling the business to thrive.

Position Summary

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and orchestrate the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives in a practical sequencing of modernization while providing a clear direction for technology investments
- Create and maintain architectural standards, blueprints, reference architectures, and patterns for various business capabilities as they relate to systems/applications and technology domains
- In partnership with Solutions Architect, serves as the technical expert, researching, evaluating, and solving business problems using integrated enterprise technology platforms including Billing, Policy, Claims, 3rd party API services, Distribution Management, Risk Control, and customer facing portals.
- Proactively analyze current business and IT environments and operations to identify deficiencies or opportunities, and recommend solutions for improvement; define high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future state of current systems; delivers technical visualization of proposed solutions
- Possess and maintain up-to-date practical knowledge of AI/ML technologies/disciplines and their trends including vendors, libraries, tools, and use cases BITCO can use to drive real business value
- Conceptualize and model legacy application work to minimize ongoing support costs and long term technical debt
- Provide architectural guidance and support to application development teams and project teams throughout the software development lifecycle and help resolve project/work interdependencies
- Establish architectural principles, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistency, interoperability, security, and compliance across all IT systems while enforcing development and design standards used by internal/external delivery teams
- Maintain methods and execution of interfaces with external products (on premise or in the cloud) while maintaining overall performance and appropriate response to end users
- Design and govern the integration of various applications and systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability across the enterprise
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure that security considerations are integrated into the enterprise architecture and all solutions are designed with security in mind
- Work with infrastructure teams to define the underlying infrastructure requirements to support application needs and ensure scalability and reliability
- Collaborate with data architects to define data models, data flows, and data integration strategies that align with the overall enterprise architecture
- Audit compliance of business and IT operations against established standards, policies and strategies and partner with ORI/SOC counterparts to ensure alignment with broader ORI enterprise architectural standards and guidelines
- Provide technology contribution to business objectives, by conducting feasibility studies, producing high level technical models, and assisting in the preparation of business cases
- Provide input to strategic IT investment decisions through technical input and architecture services such as vendor and technical product evaluation and decision making
- Possess deep understanding of industry standards, platform technology, and integration frameworks and provide research on how BITCO could leverage new technologies for future gain
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and architectural trends, identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency, agility, and effectiveness of the organization's IT systems
- Maintains current company and department procedures. Assigns work, provides training and feedback to team members, and conducts timely and appropriate evaluations of job performance in the department
- As a management representative, consistently acts in the best interest of BITCO and provides leadership and communication to actively promote BITCO's mission, values, and culture

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Business Administration, related field, or equivalent experience required
- Significant hands-on experience using insurance/financial services based enterprise platforms (Duck Creek/Guidewire, Salesforce, Microsoft, etc.) with an emphasis on REST APIs, Cloud Storage, Structured/Unstructured Data, Security and Data Ingress/Egress.
- At least 10+ years' of experience within complex Information Technology environments, including network and system administration, IT infrastructure, software development and applications, database management, security and monitoring controls, and management information systems.
- At least 5+ years' of experience in a leadership role
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with a self-starter mindset
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset
- Prior experience in the insurance industry is preferred, with an understanding of insurance data and regulatory requirements
