Job Description
The Dean of Students is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of programs and services that support student development, engagement, wellness, and success. The Dean will oversee key functional areas including, but not limited to, Student Conduct, Campus Recreation, Student and Civic Engagement, Student Wellness and Counseling Center, and Residential Life (upon implementation). Additionally, the Dean serves as the advisor to the Student Government Association, acts as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator, and the chair of the Behavior Intervention Team. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and student-centered leader with a strong commitment to holistic student development and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for functional areas supervised
- Manage and provide professional development support to department heads and staff within functional areas supervised
- Engages in unit, division, and university strategic planning efforts and participates in programs and processes intended to improve student support and the student experience; represents student safety and wellness needs to university leaders and stakeholders
- Establishes and implements short- and long-range department goals, objectives, policies, budgets and operating procedures
- Provides direction, intervention, and prevention for students in need including intervening in collaboration with mental health staff, providing student advocacy, and working with staff and students affected by a crisis; serves in an on-call capacity; identifies and implements interventions in the best interest of students and the university community
- Provides training and information to students, faculty, staff, parents, and external stakeholders regarding student wellbeing, resources, rights, responsibilities, and overall experience to support student retention and success
- Act as Deputy Title IX Coordinator, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, system, and institutional regulations, including, but not limited to, FERPA, Clery Act, and Title IX
- Serve as the primary advisor to the Student Government Association, fostering student leadership and shared governance
- Represent the Division of Student Affairs on institutional committees and initiatives
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated experience in student conduct, crisis management, and student support services
- Knowledge of Title IX, student development theory, and best practices in student affairs
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Experience with budget management, strategic planning, and assessment
- Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five years of related experience in student affairs
