Work Schedule: 36-40 hours weekly with rotating weekends

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection with attention to patient safety and comfort
  • Verify patient identity and ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation
  • Maintain specimen integrity by following proper collection, transportation, and storage procedures
  • Enter and retrieve data from laboratory information systems
  • Register referred outpatient requisitions according to established registration guidelines
  • Assist with waived laboratory testing as directed by technical staff
  • Monitor and maintain supplies and cleanliness in the work area
  • Support clerical tasks and maintain accurate records in compliance with CAP, CLIA, and hospital policies
  • Uphold customer service standards in all patient and staff interactions

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required
  • Phlebotomy certification OR completed phlebotomy training course
  • Must meet all CLIA requirements for testing personnel (if applicable)

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 6 months of experience preferred or successful completion of a phlebotomy certification program
  • Knowledge of proper specimen collection and processing procedures
  • Competent in clerical duties and data entry; familiarity with laboratory computer systems
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; patient-focused demeanor

Work Schedule: Weekend- 11a-11p

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, effective, and compassionate professional nursing care for patients across the lifespan—from infant to geriatric—unless otherwise indicated. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the healthcare needs of assigned patients and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to meet unit and hospital goals.

This role requires adaptability to float between comparable nursing units as needed and a strong commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care in a fast-paced emergency environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct and indirect patient care based on established clinical standards and departmental protocols
  • Accurately assess and identify patient needs and formulate individualized care plans
  • Provide emergency care interventions and administer medications appropriately, using sound clinical judgment
  • Act as a leader and resource to less experienced staff; serve as a Charge Nurse when required
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and rapidly changing patient conditions
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
  • Float to other comparable units as required based on staffing needs

Education & Licensure

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of South Carolina – Required
  • Successful completion of hospital orientation and annual competencies – Required
  • BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications – Required
  • TNCC certification – Must be obtained within one year of hire
  • Advanced certification in specialty field (e.g., CEN) and/or active participation in professional organizations – Encouraged

Experience & Skills

  • Knowledge of general nursing theories and emergency care practice
  • Previous hospital or emergency department experience – Preferred
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, and time management abilities
  • Ability to supervise and mentor staff, exercise sound judgment, and work independently within scope of practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; discretion in handling confidential information
  • Flexible to work irregular schedules, weekends, holidays, and fluctuating census demands
