We’re looking for a hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead and manage HR operations across three states. This is not a desk-only, corporate policy role. It’s for someone who loves HR because of what it does for people and operations—and who is ready to get in, get organized, and get things done.
You’ll report directly to senior leadership and have a part-time assistant to help with day-to-day tasks, but you’ll be driving HR operations, compliance, hiring, and employee support with a heavy focus on execution and adaptability.
· Own job postings, screenings, interviews, and pre-employment paperwork
· Write and update job descriptions
· Collaborate with managers to staff and retain great people
· Manage and evolve our org chart and HR systems
Employee & Manager Support· Set up onboard of new employees and lead HR portion of that onboarding
· Monitor training completion and provide ongoing support
· Assist managers with performance notes, evaluations, and paperwork
· Support terminations, write-ups, bonuses, and other administrative needs
· Handle benefits administration, payroll backup, and compliance paperwork
· Champion company culture and engagement
Administrative Oversight· Ensure we’re compliant with OSHA, federal, and state requirements
· Run benefits enrollment and support insurance processes
· Handle claims (worker's comp, unemployment, etc.)
· Develop practical HR policies that support a productive, people-first culture
· Location: Des Moines in-office with some quarterly travel to other locations
· Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8a~5p
Requirements
· A Bachelor’s in HR, Business Admin, or similar
· 5+ years of hands-on HR experience (multi-site or multi-state preferred)
· SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
· Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
· Emotional intelligence and good judgment
· Comfort working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
· Familiarity with federal/state employment law
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new systems
· Leadership skills to guide others—even when it's messy
Salary Description
