Job Summary

Kaspar Outdoors is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead mechanical design across new product development, cost reduction, and production support initiatives. This role requires technical expertise in CAD modeling, DFM/DFA, and real-world manufacturing. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment while delivering scalable and innovative product solutions.

Senior Design Engineer Responsibilities

• - Lead mechanical design projects from concept through production using SolidWorks.
• - Generate and manage 3D models, assemblies, and fully toleranced 2D drawings.
• - Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T for fit/function.
• - Select materials and components for optimal performance and manufacturability.
• - Manage engineering documentation using SolidWorks PDM.
• - Maintain change control and revision tracking.
• - Collaborate with CNC programmers, machinists, and manufacturing teams.
• - Support tooling, fixture design, and prototype testing.
• - Address design-related issues via root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• - Mentor team members in design principles and workflow improvements.
• - Lead design reviews and support lean initiatives.
• - All other duties as assigned by management.

Senior Design Engineer Skills And Competencies

• - Proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM, with parametric modeling expertise.
• - Deep knowledge of GD&T, DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and materials selection.
• - Familiarity with FEA, design validation, and testing methodologies.
• - Effective communicator and highly organized problem-solver.
• - Adaptable and detail-oriented with a proactive mindset.
  
  

Senior Design Engineer Qualifications

• Required:
• - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• - 5+ years of mechanical design in a production environment.
• - Mastery of SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
• - Proven ability to take designs from concept to release efficiently.
• - Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Preferred:
• - Background in firearms, defense, or precision manufacturing.
• - Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
• - Experience mentoring junior engineers.
  
  

Work Environment

This role operates primarily within a manufacturing environment requiring use of PPE (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes).
