Position Summary
As a Class A Local Driver, you will be responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of goods between designated customer and company locations. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to safety, and adaptability to changing schedules. You’ll be part of a supportive, team-oriented environment with the benefit of being home every night. This role requires a strong commitment to BWT’s expectations around reliability, professional conduct, and a drug-free work environment. Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A commercial vehicle in accordance with DOT and BWT regulations.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required inspection reports.
- Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers regarding routes, schedules, and updates.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules while complying with all traffic laws, FMCSA regulations, and company safety protocols.
- Maintain an accurate electronic log of driving and working hours (ELD), compliant with FMCSA Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
- Secure cargo and ensure loads are properly balanced and arranged for safe transit.
- Verify load accuracy, record deliveries, and submit required trip paperwork, including bills of lading.
- Identify and report mechanical issues, vehicle defects, accidents, or violations promptly; ensure any needed repairs are addressed before operating.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as refueling and cleaning.
- Interact with customers and site personnel in a professional and respectful manner.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance in accordance with BWT’s policy.
- Uphold professional conduct at all times and comply with BWT’s behavioral and Drug-Free Workplace policies.
- Participate in required safety meetings, compliance training, and company updates.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum 3 years of Class A driving experience.
- Clean MVR and background check.
- Valid DOT Medical Card.
- Active FMCSA Clearinghouse registration.
- Proficiency with Electronic Logging Devices (ELD).
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Strong commitment to safety and DOT compliance.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- HAZMAT Certification.
- TWIC Card.
- Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Day Shift).
- Pay Rate: $23–$25 per hour based on experience. Benefits (available after 90 days):
