About the Role:
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) aims to provide a comprehensive, cross-functional perspective on risks, ensuring their effective prioritization and management in alignment with the Company’s strategic goals.
The Sr. Enterprise Risk Officer will play a key role in leading the organization’s risk management initiatives, specifically in the operational risk space. This includes building out and maturing a 2nd line control testing program with a focus on controls identified through the RCSA. The program encompasses both the execution of control testing as well as oversight of 1st line testing activities in alignment with enterprise standards. Additionally, the candidate should have familiarity with other operational risk programs such as RCSAs and OREs.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $89,000.00 - $130,000.00, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.

- Lead and support operational risk initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on risk management strategies
- Establish best practice risk management capabilities
- Engage with stakeholders across the lines of defense to ensure appropriate ‘input to’ and ‘socialization of’ key initiatives
- Provide independent effective challenge to ensure the effectiveness of risk management practices
- Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes
- Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
- May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
- Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.

- Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, or other applicable discipline or equivalent experience. Required
- Master's Degree. Preferred.
- 7 + years of banking, risk management, finance, technology experience. Required
- Expertise in financial, enterprise, operational, or technology risk management concepts, best practices, and regulations.
- Extensive understanding of financial institution general control structure, as well as, knowledge of various bank operations, in order to assess risk, challenge, and make appropriate recommendations.
- Demonstrate ability to independently manage multiple and complex work efforts, which involves directing other key stakeholders across the bank.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, and analytical skillset. Ability to present complex information to a variety of different audiences.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, ACL, or Cognos reporting. Knowledge of GRC systems helpful.
