Who We Serve
Pacific Clinics serves children, transitional age youth, families, adults, and older adults. We offer a full range of mental and behavioral health services, foster care and social services, housing, continuing adult education and early childhood education programs to Medi-Cal eligible individuals and families throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kings, Los Angeles, Madera, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Stockton, Tulare and Ventura Counties.
JOB SUMMARY
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5 pm
The Senior Director of Communications develops and implements communication strategies to advance internal and external stakeholder engagement and align with Pacific Clinics' vision, business strategy and culture, and drive employees' understanding and engagement on priorities and key initiatives. In addition, in partnership with the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), this role will work with all forms of media, including press releases and digital campaigns, print materials, social media, audio and video and more. The ideal candidate will have experience managing proactive and reactive communications efforts, as well as a passion for storytelling.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Supports Chief Communications Officer on executive leadership activities and serves as lead when Chief is unavailable.
- Supervises, manages, trains, leads, and evaluates communications roles, including directors, associate directors and managers and communications programs that support agency objectives and continuity.
- Oversee all of communications and develops strategic communications planning, content development and execution across a range of communications channels and platforms.
- Continuously assesses and refines communication strategies based on feedback, outcomes, and industry trends.
- Implements new communications tactics and creates innovative ways to share information with various audiences.
- Develops and oversees internal and external communications ensuring brand, theme, and message consistency.
- Directs and manages internal and external communications development and editorial calendar for the agency's intranet to ensure that content is up to date and effectively showcases organizational priorities.
- Build relationships between the agency and journalists to discover, curate, and share compelling stories about our company, our services, our technology, and our people.
- Participates in crisis communication preparedness activities and supports the CCO in this capacity.
- Measures and reports on the effectiveness of communication programs and initiatives and uses data to inform future strategy.
- Seeks opportunities to enhance the reputation of the organization's brand and coordinate with media as appropriate. Respond to press inquiries promptly and professionally, working with the CCO, as appropriate. Serves as the lead on public relations when CCO is unavailable.
- Collaborates and develop marketing strategies with Director of Marketing.
- Manages review/revision/approval processes to ensure achievement of communications and business goals/objectives for brand and narrative consistency.
- Stays abreast of emerging trends in communication technologies and tools to enhance the organization's communication capabilities and reach.
- Supports and coordinate employee communications across internal departments.
- Contributes to the department’s budget process.
- Ensures the timely submission of all performance appraisals, new hire and termination paperwork and other employee status changes within the division, including informing HR of employee leaves of absence, work-related injuries, and employee incidents.
- Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.
- Models' Pacific clinics' approach, mission and core values in all communication and correspondence.
- Communicates effectively and competently with a diverse client population and promotes favorable interaction with managers, co-workers, and others.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAND/OR EXPERIENCE
- BA in communications, journalism, or a related field. MA and/or APR.
- 10+ years of demonstrated, progressive experience in public/ media relations and corporate or communications.
- Current and active press relationships in a major media market in California desired; experience in pitching stories to news media.
- Knowledge and experience utilizing Constant Contact, Sprout Social, Google Analytics and Cision, Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Monday a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, meticulous attention to detail, especially under tight deadlines.
- Notable experience working directly with executive leadership.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings or events.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with excellent grammar.
Must possess a valid CA driver's license and insurance with two years’ experience and maintain an insurable driving record under the agency’s liability policy.
- Bilingual English/Spanish (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in web content management systems (WordPress preferred).
- Use of Monday.com, Cision, Canto or related software systems a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Needs to successfully complete all required agency training indicated for this position.
