Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders: this includes assessment and treatment of language, articulation, voice, pragmatic language, fluency and executive functioning. Based on interest and experience, this may also include evaluation and treatment of feeding and swallowing disorders. The SLP will complete screenings and evaluations, write appropriate treatment plans and formulate functional goals to help the client and their family achieve their goals.

Work Schedule: This is a split position, scheduled to work 2 days a week at our Wheaton South Clinic and 3 days a week in our Wheaton North Clinics. This position may lend itself to a 4-day work schedule with 1 day in Wheaton South and 3 Days in Wheaton North.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and implement treatment plans for pediatric clients, from birth to age 18
  • Create client specific goals focused on effective communication, utilizing verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Prepare and complete detailed documentation and records of evaluations and treatments
  • Provide support and guidance to the clients’ family enabling them to foster the behaviors and practices implemented in treatment
  • Based on interest and specialty, may assess, diagnose, treat feeding and swallowing disorders in children
  • Serve as a CF Supervisor once every two years
  • Maintain a targeted caseload of 25 therapy hours a week

Required Education, Experience And Credentials

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Pass the Praxis Examination in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Completion of your Clinical Fellowship Year
  • SLP licensure or license eligible, in the state of Illinois

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to receive training in, and implement, de-escalation skills for clients
  • Ability to lift or carry 30 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to work in a variety of active positions, including on the floor during played-based therapy

Travel Requirements

  • Some travel within assigned region for training, meetings and supporting client coverage needs.
