Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive ticket sales strategy across full-season, partial plan, group, premium, and single-game inventory.
- Lead revenue-driving initiatives through innovative pricing strategies, data-informed segmentation, and CRM-based sales planning.
- Lead the formulation and execution of multi-year strategic growth plans for the ticketing business, aligned with broader organizational objectives. Guide critical initiatives that shape long-term revenue, fan engagement, and enterprise positioning.
- Partner with Business Intelligence to demonstrate fan insights and market analytics to inform pricing and strategy.
- Work closely with Marketing to build and implement integrated campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, and conversion.
- Oversee go-to-market strategies for theme nights, game-specific promotions, and group activations.
- Lead high-stakes negotiations with key partners (e.g., secondary marketplaces, ticketing platforms, corporate partners) to drive both revenue impact and strategic value. Navigate complex agreements with a long-term, enterprise-wide lens.
- Provide executive leadership and communication during moments of disruption (e.g., pandemic protocols, major PR issues, systemic platform outages). Uphold a strong ethical standard and foster a culture of accountability and transparency.
- Direct the sales and positioning of premium offerings including courtside seats, clubs, and suite inventory.
- Collaborate across departments to package and promote premium assets that align with brand and client goals.
- Advance group sales efforts that engage youth organizations, community partners, and corporate accounts in meaningful, scalable ways.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of senior leaders, managers, and account executives across sales and service functions.
- Create a culture grounded in performance, innovation, inclusion, and professional growth in line with our Careers focus.
- Establish clear performance metrics and development plans that align with team and organizational goals.
- Champion employee recognition and engagement across all levels.
- Ensure the delivery of best-in-class service to all season ticket members and premium clients.
- Oversee all touchpoints in the member journey—from onboarding and benefits to renewal and engagement—to strengthen relationships and loyalty.
- Consistently evaluate and refine service strategies to optimize retention and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with internal partners across Business Intelligence, Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, Game Presentation, and Arena Operations.
- Serve as a senior executive liaison across departments, ensuring ticketing strategies are tightly integrated with league initiatives, organizational innovation efforts, and enterprise data platforms. Influence decision-making at the executive level and represent ticketing in cross-functional planning forums.
- Drive alignment between fan-facing initiatives and sales/service efforts to elevate the overall Fan and Brand experience.
- Partner with CRM and Technology teams to improve the digital and operational tools supporting the sales and service lifecycle.
- Manage departmental budgets and revenue forecasting processes.
- Develop and present performance reports, dashboards, and projections for executive leadership and ownership review.
- Maintain accountability for revenue goals in alignment with the organization's broader Revenue objectives.
- Represent the organization at NBA league meetings, ticketing summits, and industry conferences.
- Act as a senior ambassador for the Pistons at the league and national level, shaping industry standard processes and influencing policy across NBA business units. Lead thought leadership initiatives and participate in speaking engagements to elevate the franchise’s profile.
- Monitor emerging trends in ticketing, pricing, and fan experience to position the Pistons as a forward-thinking leader.
- Seek out partnerships and pilot programs that advance our competitive edge and community footprint.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in ticket sales or sports business, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading teams to achieve or exceed revenue goals in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
- Deep understanding of NBA or major league ticketing models preferred.
- Expertise in outbound sales, CRM systems (Salesforce, Dynamics), and ticketing platforms (e.g., Ticketmaster Archtics).
- Strong grasp of pricing strategy, sales pipeline management, and P&L responsibility.
- Inspirational leadership and excellent interpersonal skills with a team-first, passionate approach.
- Analytical and data-driven, with the ability to turn insights into revenue-driving action.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to lead through change and foster innovation.
