Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conduct project assignments, research, and analysis. Assist with digitizing and data entry as needed.
- Assist with acquisition, entry, and quality control of GIS data.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of data through graphic editing, line cleaning, topology building, database updates.
- Ability to develop proficiency in interpreting civil engineering plans and accurately extracting relevant information for the purpose of populating GIS attribute data
- Analyze asset and geographic data.
- Utilize the GIS software and data to produce cartographic output.
- Apply technical knowledge to departmental projects.
- May prepare written reports, communication, documentation, or correspondence on behalf of the department.
- May make presentations on assignment status and progress.
- High School Diploma, with some college-level coursework in geographical information systems
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro to create, edit, and manage geospatial data, including producing maps, performing spatial analysis, and supporting project-specific GIS tasks
- Must at least be in first year of college and pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university
- Computer aptitude required
Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience with GIS software, research, analysis, and statistics
- General knowledge of geographic information systems and drafting concepts
- General understanding of infrastructure data, system connections, related applications, and related processes.
- General understanding of cartographic principles, standards and applications
- General understanding of vector and raster geographic data types and understand the concepts of map projections and geo- referencing.
- General understanding of the various sources of geographic information, such as paper maps and remotely sensed data, including satellite and aerial imagery
- General knowledge of GIS data structure.
- General knowledge of managing and processing digital data.
- Skill in utilizing ArcGIS 10.X, ESRI Spatial Analyst, and ArcSDE, ArcPro, ArcGIS Online
- Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
- Skill in cartographic data representation output
- Skill in preparing and communicating data analysis (written and oral)
- Skill in preparing documentation to map workflow processes.
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to multi-task
