Summary:

Peer Recovery Outreach Specialist, reports to the Assistant Director of Substance Use and Recovery Support and works with this individual and other staff to develop, implement, and evaluate a wide variety of recovery programming and services for a diverse student body of over 28,000. The Peer Recovery Support Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting outreach efforts on campus including naloxone training and providing recovery coaching. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Typical Duties

Recovery Coaching 50%
  • Provide individual peer coaching to students in and seeking recovery
  • Lead professional development sessions for fellow peer recovery specialists
  • Support individuals participating in recovery housing

Outreach and Advocacy Administration 40%
  • Lead health education events, provide lectures, programs, and outreach, including: Online, classroom, large group, etc.
  • Work with outreach coordinator to provide naloxone training and support campus wide naloxone program
  • Targeted outreach to key stakeholders and underserved populations.
  • Coordinate programming and awareness events
  • Collaborate and develop strong partnerships with campus and community partners to ensure access to services for students in recovery

Administrative Duties 10%
  • Maintain proper training in customer service, crisis intervention, and other university policies and procedures
  • Continue professional growth by reading current research and attending conferences/trainings
  • Participate in Division and University-wide events as needed
