Job Description
Office Manager
This position manages the reception area and information desk of the University Advisement Center (UAC) and the Academic Support Office (ASO). This includes recruiting, hiring, training and supervising 5-7 student workers. The reception and information desk answers approximately 15,000 inquiries annually and makes referrals for students, parents, and university officials. This also includes screening and making 15,000 appointments annually for advisors in the UAC and ASO.
What you will be doing in this position:
FRONT DESK MANAGEMENT
- Respond to advisement requests by email daily
- Oversee front desk operations, including handling difficult interactions
- Hire, train, and supervise 5-7 student workers in coordination with ASO and UAC Directors
- Ensure student workers provide accurate information
- Assist at the front desk as needed (helping students, making appointments, answering phones, referring students to appropriate resources)
- Maintain front desk training materials
- Oversee daily communications/procedures (registration exceptions, guest access requests)
- Maintain a system to keep employees informed of operational needs
SCHEDULING
- Manage schedules for 20+ advisors
- Enter and maintain advisor schedules in the system
- Block out appointment times for holidays, meetings, and special events
- Maintain a master calendar of advisor schedules
- Keep meeting room schedules updated
What qualifies you for this role:
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- One year experience in an office setting or a Bachelor’s degree.
PREFERRED
- Two years’ experience in an office setting highly preferred or any combination of work experience and Bachelor’s degree.
SKILLS
Required: Competency in office skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred: Knowledge of BYU University policies and procedures, majors and minors. Competency in office skills including Microsoft Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint. Knowledge of AIM and MyMap.

Pay Grade: 47
Typical Starting Pay: $18.50-$23.25
