Manager, Roofing & Exteriors

Join a great team of Roofing & Building Exteriors experts in their responsibility to maintain and keep the campus of Brigham Young University as a beautiful place of inspired learning. The Manager of the Roofing & Building Exteriors is responsible for exterior commissioning, roofing, exteriors, building envelopes, & window specialties for all campus structures, including BYU Campus, Housing, MTC, Aspen Grove, Motion Picture Studio, Spring Haven, West Mountain Observatory, and all auxiliary buildings.

What you’ll do in this position:

Responsible for commissioning, consultation, and/or design of all building exteriors remodels, improvements and new construction for all university buildings. Includes all waterproofing, roofing, building envelope, glass, and exterior components Responsible for maintenance of all waterproofing, roofing, building envelope, glass and exterior components Responsible for the overseeing of cleaning the exterior and interior windows for all university buildings Supervise employees Department development Ongoing- Personal development


What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Five years’ minimum experience in Building Envelope, Facilities Management, Construction, Roofing, Glass, Engineering, or Architecture
  • A broad knowledge of all roofing, waterproofing and glass, building components
  • A broad knowledge of building exteriors, systems, concepts, compatibility and design requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and supervisory skills
  • Understanding of exterior commissioning procedures
  • Ability to read and understand building plans with knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Computer software skills and aptitude

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or another related field
  • Ten years’ experience in Building Envelope, Facilities Management, Construction, Roofing, Architecture, Engineering or related field. Roofing contractor license, commissioning certification, or equivalent certifications.

Physical Requirements:

Physical Effort

Moderate – Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions.

Environment

Periodic exposure to unfavorable conditions because of unavoidable need to be in variable temperatures or wet environments.

Pay Grade: 53

Typical Starting Pay: $71,000.00 to $92,500.00
