Overview & Responsibilities Job Description Purpose of the Job: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Environmental, Health, Safety & Quality Specialist to support and enhance our workplace programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Environmental Health Safety & Quality (EHS&Q) SOP’s and regulations, ISO 9001, implementing safety programs, conducting audits, managing incidents/non-conformances, and fostering a strong safety and quality culture within the responsible facility Specific Job Responsibilities/Competencies:
  • Act as the Facility Safety and Quality Lead, providing guidance and support for all safety and quality-related initiatives under the direction of the Service Center Manager
  • Conduct monthly internal Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits to ensure compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to EHS&Q and ensure site-wide compliance
  • Support and investigate workplace events, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Support and promote the Behavior-Based Safety initiatives to encourage a proactive approach to workplace safety
  • Assist in the development and execution of the local Safety Teams Programs, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and provide ongoing employee training on safety protocols and procedures
  • Support the development of Job Hazard Analysis to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace
  • Oversee medical surveillance scheduling, ensuring timely health evaluations for employees exposed to occupational hazards
  • Collect and maintain environmental manifests, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with waste disposal regulations
  • Act as focal point for the facility’s ISO 9001 certification
  • Evaluate all non-conformances to determine the proper path forward
  • Ensure accurate and timely submittal of Non-Conformance Reports and Quality Action Requests
  • Manage and maintain the calibration program for the facility
  • Ensure shop operations and procedures are carried out in accordance with the Quality Manual
  • Monitor and communicate scrap and rework costs to minimize the cost of quality for the facility
Background and Experience:
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2 + years of experience in an EHS or Quality role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for identifying workplace hazards
  • An awareness and enthusiasm around quality and safety
  • Excellent communication and training abilities to engage employees at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of experience in an EHS or Quality role
  • Preferred Experience: Experience within manufacturing & heavy industry is a plus
The expected compensation range for this position is between $75,000 to $104,000 / year based on experience and qualifications.
