Join our Research & Development team as a R&D Scientist – SD1 Spray Drying Facility at our Haverhill manufacturing site to play a crucial role in the technology transfer and process scale-up of new pharmaceutical products within our pilot GMP facility The R&D Scientist is an essential role for our state-of-the-art R&D pilot GMP facility is equipped with advanced spray drying technology for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) We are a leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) specializing in the development and production of high-quality pharmaceutical products. Who are seeking a highly skilled and motivated R&D Scientist to join our growing R&D team The role will require shift work on a Monday – Friday, 0600h-1400h and 1400h – 2200h shift pattern Your Responsibilities You will:
  • Conduct research and development activities related to the spray drying of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. Develop and optimize spray drying parameters to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Act as the Technical Lead for technology transfer projects from benchtop to kilo plant/pilot plant scale.
  • Develop and optimize spray drying processes for the scale-up of pharmaceutical products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality and H&S to ensure successful project execution.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP regulations and company quality standards.
  • Prepare, review and maintain technical documentation, including: ELNs, protocols, reports, SOPs and WIs.
  • Act as primary contact and Receiving Unit (RU) lead for the R&D pilot/kilo plant team for new products from the Tech Transfer team.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure product quality and safety.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Train and mentor junior scientists and technicians.
  • Provide data analysis and interpretation, to recommend changes to optimise the process improvements.
  • Provide solutions to process related issues.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving process-related issues.
  • Work with equipment specialists to identify any equipment and procedural changes required to facilitate successful delivery of new projects.
  • Primarily working on small scale spray drying projects in the R&D Procept SD1 lab but may also be required to work in other R&D labs. On occasion it may also be necessary to work in the production plants to give technical assistance with new product introductions.

The site also offers a contract testing and release facility within its laboratories Our Requirements We require you to have:
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, or extensive relevant experience.
  • Experience of spray drying
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience of working in a GMP environment, preferably within a CDMO or CRO would be an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of spray drying technology and process scale-up would be an advantage
  • Experience using a Procept SD1 Spray Dryer would be an advantage
