Echostar is looking for experienced DevOps Engineer to drive operations of our Enterprise business in our Hughes Network Systems division. We are looking to build and manage services that comprehensively provision, scale, and operate Hughes Business Solutions. This position will be located at our office in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Write efficient, reusable, and reliable Python code, with a specific focus on developing web applications.
  • Design, implement, and maintain data workflows and pipelines using Apache Airflow. Schedule and monitor tasks for data processing and orchestration.
  • Work comfortably in a Linux environment, demonstrating proficiency in system administration tasks, shell scripting, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate actively in code reviews, analyze, and troubleshoot issues, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality software.
  • Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) effectively, ensuring collaborative and efficient development workflows.
  • Create and maintain clear, detailed, and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Actively seek opportunities to enhance skills and share knowledge within the team

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5 years of professional experience in Python development, with a strong focus on Flask/ReactJS, Apache Airflow, networking, databases, and Linux.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities in a dynamic work force.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and experience with Fortinet, VeloCloud, Cisco Meraki, Cradlepoint, Juniper, Aruba vendor platforms.
  • Proficiency with RESTful API development and familiarity with FastAPI or Litestar Python API frameworks preferred (experience with Flask or DRF also ok).
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of ReactJS for web application development.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, performance benchmarking and tools.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
