Summary Description

California Giant Berry Farms Sales Account Manager is responsible for delivering & coordinating seamless fruit sales at the highest price with the best return. Responsibilities include direct customer contact with exposure to a wide variety of accounts, and responsible for developing an appropriate level of communication with clients and internal team members to better understand and mitigate any issues the customers may face. The person in this position must be a highly motivated individual with excellent written and communication skills who is able to work in a fast-paced environment sending fruit to retailers, wholesalers, and food service. During the peak seasons this position is very fast paced and intense.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • 6:00 am start time year-round and some weekends/ holidays required.
  • Manage assigned customer business relationships 24/7
  • Acquisition, growth, and retention of customer accounts to achieve sales targets.
  • Provide pricing for ads, promos, weekly open market pricing.
  • Manages Trade accounts receivable and adjustment processes.
  • Sell berries daily to avoid aged and carryover/inventory.
  • Create and maintain relationships with customers to better understand and achieve their needs.
  • Make visits to our customers to identify opportunities for growth within our supply capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills to ensure proactive and solution focused collaborations.
  • Excellence in customer service with a "can do" positive attitude – easily approachable.
  • Works in unison with leadership and sales team to achieve department and company goals.
  • Able to share responsibilities and collaborate in a service-oriented, team environment.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines in an ever-changing environment.
  • Simultaneously, manage multiple tasks with accountabilities to multiple sales processes.
  • Ability to absorb sales floor information relevant to own – While working on computer & telephone
  • Strong technology competence with knowledge of MS Office products, various produce portals (I-trade, etc.) and familiarity with Famous ERP.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of management and external customers
  • Experienced and successful negotiation skills.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve sustainability practices in your daily work routine and seek opportunities to contribute to sustainability goals set by your organization.
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of successful berry sales experience
  • Deep understanding of the berry market (Supply & Demand) both movement and pricing
  • Experienced in sales demand planning, and Goal Setting
  • Willingness and ability to travel to growing districts, trade shows/conferences, customer locations, trainings, offsite meetings, etc.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid California Driver’s License and US passport with the ability to be insured under company sponsored liability coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree (BS or BA)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Sales
  • Knowledge of System Software (Famous or similar).
  • Farming, Packing, Shipping, and Buying/Sales Experience

Physical Requirements

Job requires ability to sit for long periods of time to perform duties. Also required is the ability to walk around and make inquiries from other staff, management, etc. Must be able to bend or stoop down to access file cabinets including lifting of items or objects up to 10 pounds.
