Eton School in Bellevue, Washington, is an independent school for children age three through grade eight whose mission in educating the whole child inspires creative, confident thinkers who have an enduring passion for learning and are poised to contribute to the world. In support of our mission and statement on diversity, we seek a qualified Teaching Assistant to work within our Upper Elementary program.
Upper Elementary Assistants are scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., as 10-month employees during the academic year. Work schedule and hours will vary while supporting the childcare program during certain school closures or breaks, including optional work during our Summer Program. This position's main responsibilities include classroom management, student supervision, and support of the teaching team. The wage range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, and placement within the range depends upon experience.
Examples Of Daily Tasks Include
Employees are eligible to participate in the 401(k) retirement plan following one year and a minimum of 1,000 hours of employment; for each dollar an employee contributes, Eton School will provide a matching contribution of up to 8% of an employee's eligible compensation. Health, vision, and dental plans are available to full-time employees beginning the first day after one full month of employment. Other benefits include discounted Costco membership, discounted rates for Aflac plans, complimentary childcare for enrolled children of employees (up to allowable IRS limits), as well as paid professional development opportunities. Paid time off and paid holidays are available as outlined in the Employment Agreement offered upon hire.

Examples Of Daily Tasks Include
- Overview the classroom and maintain a peaceful work environment
- Work with the teacher to establish consistent behavior expectations for students
- Work with small groups and individual students under the direction of the teacher
- Correct assignments, prepare materials for projects, and maintain classroom supplies
- Lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal duties
- Daily cleaning and organizing responsibilities
- Provide support to the childcare program after school and during school breaks
- Teach special units of study within an area of expertise or interest
- Support the performing arts teacher in musical production
- Step in to lead certain activities or to help cover during absences
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children in an educational setting
- High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s preferred
- Desirable traits include effective communication skills, confidence and kindness when working with children, professionalism, and a conscientious attitude toward work responsibilities.
- Training that can be completed upon hire, costs reimbursed by the school:
- Pediatric and Adult CPR/AED and First Aid
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect
- Medication Management
- Student Boundaries
- Provide results of a one-step Mantoux TB skin test prior to starting work or provide written proof of a negative test result within the past twelve months. Positive results require documentation of treatment or a negative chest x-ray.
- Supply proof of MMR vaccination, proof of immunity through antibody titer, a health care provider's attestation of infection sufficient to provide immunity, or documentation of medical/religious exemption.
- Complete a Portable Background Check through DCYF and submit to fingerprinting as required.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds overhead, to remain standing or walking for extended periods of the workday, and to move freely while supervising and engaging in indoor and outdoor activities with students
