Key Responsibilities
Culinary Leadership
- Oversee and/or prepare quality meals, with attention to presentation and portion control.
- Utilizes standardized recipes and prints menus, recipes, production and prep sheets, utilizing the tools available through the Martin Bros. website.
- Works with the Culinary Director to strategize menus, prepare holiday menus and prepare food for special events.
- Conduct daily pre-meal briefings with servers to review menu details and expectations.
- In collaboration with the Culinary Director, hires, trains and mentors culinary staff.
- Ensure adequate staffing coverage for every shift and address performance issues in alignment with HR policies.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to maintain a high standard of culinary excellence.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly rotated stock rooms, coolers, and freezers.
- Ensure food is labeled, dated, and stored per local, state, and county health codes.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation and ensure kitchen equipment is in good working condition.
- Assist in food ordering and inventory control to ensure adequate supplies while adhering to daily food cost budgets.
- Apply waste reduction and food recycling strategies to minimize loss.
- Support loss prevention practices and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
- Interact with residents daily to gather feedback and enhance satisfaction.
- Assist in planning and executing special dining events and themed meals.
- Participate in the Manager on Duty program as needed.
- Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or Food Service is preferred, but not required.
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef in a healthcare setting is preferred, but not required.
- Prior experience in long-term care or senior living environments (preferred).
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Commitment to food quality, resident satisfaction, and a clean, safe kitchen environment.
- Customer-service driven with a warm, professional demeanor.
