THE ROLE

The Finance Director will be responsible for planning and directing all aspects of financial and accounting activities for the four-building complex. The individual will perform these duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities related to financial management, budgeting, accounting, purchasing, and payroll in compliance with State and Federal laws, as well as ASM Global policies and procedures.
  • Monitor ASM Global’s compliance with all provisions of the management contract.
  • Maintain contact with ASM Global’s Risk Management Department and insurance broker to coordinate appropriate coverage.
  • Review all contracts related to clients, events, subcontractors, food and beverage, and concessionaires.
  • Review and/or prepare event settlements.
  • Review and execute all checks and deposits; oversee daily cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Monitor and project daily cash flow; invest excess cash as needed.
  • Review all purchasing of capital assets, office supplies, and facility supplies.
  • Develop and implement all financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements for the client, ASM Global Corporate, and other reports such as monthly statements, annual budgets, and annual reports.
  • Direct the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Oversee the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property and operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Analyze financial performance and conduct cost analyses for all departments; prepare monthly financial statements and recommend appropriate actions or changes to meet business goals.
  • Prepare statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Direct internal audits involving the review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Coordinate the preparation of client or external audit materials and financial reporting; implement client recommendations as requested.
  • Coordinate the year-end fiscal performance report for inclusion in the General Manager's report.
  • Direct the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.
  • Review financial statements with management personnel.
  • Participate in union labor contract administration and maintain effective working relationships with union representatives.
  • Act as Manager on Duty as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage the Finance, Box Office, and Human Resources departments, providing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Directly supervise Finance Department employees.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as a department head.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CPA certification preferred.

Skills And Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
  • Excellent math skills and strong aptitude for figures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
  • Effective supervisory skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting spreadsheets and word processing software.

Working Conditions

Location: On-site at Fresno Convention Center, Selland Arena, Saroyan Theatre, and Valdez Hall.
