Job Description:
The Job/What You’ll Do:
The Director will directly oversee a Project Management Center of Excellence responsible for providing a scalable project management engine equipped with the skills, talents, resources, and proven capabilities to consistently manage a growing roster of the most complex, cross-functional projects required to drive business growth, profitability, and enhance marketplace reputation.
The Project Management Center of Excellence will operate as an internal project management outsourcing arm of the business for cross-functional, cross-disciplinary initiatives that require professional project management support thereby freeing up functional resources from project management activities. The successful candidate will lead and build a team of experienced Program and Project Managers responsible for professionally and cost-effectively delivering all projects uniformly with standardized policies and practices.

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $200,000 - $250,000.
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Responsibilities:
- Partner closely and effectively with executive and senior leaders to manage and assign enterprise-wide projects
- Ensure projects are initiated and sequenced based on business priorities and timelines.
- Ensure timely, relevant, succinct, and high-quality reporting to executives and senior leadership team
- Actively monitor project progress, analyze performance metrics, and provide regular updates to stakeholders, including dashboards and reports
- Develop and implement project management policies and procedures to ensure effective, consistent project delivery.
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, training, and performance management of Program Managers and Project Managers
- Recruit and hire highly knowledgeable and experienced personnel to embody the Project Management Center of Excellence
- Lead and mentor a highly engaged and high-performing team of professionals measured by employee engagement scores above internal/external benchmarks.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Present concisely and thoughtfully while facilitating discussions that drive clarity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, and leaders throughout the entire organization
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize potential disruptions and ensure successful completion.
- Align Center of Excellence to complement other organizations, ensuring clear value add distinct from other functions
- Deep understanding of the wealth management and financial services industries and emerging trends in these industries
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification (certifications may be exempted by leadership based on extensive post-education project management experience). Additional professional certifications are advantageous.
- Minimum ten years of extensive leadership experience in a complex, project-intensive corporate environment with supervisory responsibility over Project Management operations
- Demonstrated ability to align project initiatives with organizational strategies for growth and scalability.
- Experience chairing committees and collaborating with executives to plan and execute strategic initiatives.
- Experience working and aligning with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, customers, and senior business leaders within business line, user experience, technology, operations, risk management, legal, compliance, and other key partner areas.
- Effective leader and proven manager, able to balance the need for process and flexibility while playing a client focused role in the prioritization and shepherding of projects to delivery.
- Prior experience successfully delivering change in a complex environment while managing competing environments and delivering projects.
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial, high-performance, and decentralized environment.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train subordinate personnel to effectively manage career planning and drive high-performance corporate outcomes
- Ability to create a highly positive working experience in a high-stress environment.
- Highly skilled communicator, both written and oral. Able to communicate at many levels of the organization, clearly and impactfully sharing thoughts, ideas, and concerns. Recognized by colleagues and cross-functional collaborators for strengths in this area, leading to positive outcomes for supported initiatives.
