Summary
WesTech is in need of an Apprentice Fitter/Welder who is familiar in reading and understanding drawings, preparation of materials for lay-out, fitting and welding, tools i.e. drills, saws, overhead cranes, lift trucks and other miscellaneous equipment.
Candidates for this position may be required to pass pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks, drug and alcohol tests, or other necessary assessments.

WesTech is in need of an Apprentice Fitter/Welder who is familiar in reading and understanding drawings, preparation of materials for lay-out, fitting and welding, tools i.e. drills, saws, overhead cranes, lift trucks and other miscellaneous equipment.

Essential Job Functions
- Safety: All employees are to properly use all required personal protective equipment, follow all safety guidelines and instructions and work to maintain and improve a safe work environment.
- Receive guidance and direction with process for welding and fitting
- Understanding of welding procedures and technics for efficiency throughout the process.
- Welds various types of metals and alloys in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions for high pressure and strength requirements, Welders operate MIG welders to weld parts in set fixtures.
- Works independently to specifications from instructions, prints, drawings and personal knowledge.
- Responsible for routine daily maintenance and upkeep of their equipment (weld gear, MIG welder, etc.).
- Expected to produce quality parts which meet quality standards.
- Clear communication and detail orientated.
- Other duties as requested or assigned.
- Anticipated Work Hours: 10 hours is considered a normal workday. Expected to arrive on time every day and complete issued tasks.
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: One year (1) experience in the welding field
- Dual Shield (FCAW) and Hard Wire (GMAW) experience required.
- History of Certifications Preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for up to 3 minutes at a time.
- Standing - most all the time while performing duties.
- Walking-carrying prepared parts 25-50 ft.
- Stooping/crawling.
- Reaching/handling-most all the time.
- Ability to securely hold blasting hose/nozzle with high operating forces for extended duration of time
- Seeing-wearing personal safety equipment including abrasive blast suite and blasting hood.
- Speaking/hearing-pay attention to surrounding noises.
- Use of fresh air supply hood (pass a medical pulmonary function test)
