This is a remote position. Incumbents who reside in Florida only may work remotely. There may be occasional situations that require work to be performed on-site at an assigned Lee Health location.

Summary

The Outpatient Coding Supervisor oversees a team of direct reports, the daily operations of the outpatient coding team, and ensures accurate and timely coding of outpatient medical records in compliance with regulatory requirements and payer guidelines. The supervisor supports the coding staff including training and training oversight, ensures department processes are followed, and serves as a resource for coding questions and documentation clarification. Demonstrates effective judgment and problem resolution by recognizing problems, objectively evaluating facts, and reaching sound judgment. Communicates with other departments and/or providers.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of outpatient coding experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role preferred.

Education: Associate Degree in Health Information Management required. Applicable experience may be substituted for education.

Training: Coding certification such as CPC, CCS, COC required.

Other:

  • In depth knowledge of outpatient coding including CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM.
  • Coding software and Epic experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates integrity and strong attention to detail.
