Job Summary
The Technical Service Director will support sales and marketing functions for POET Bioproducts. In addition to supporting the commercial business platform, this position will assist with research projects being conducted both in-house and with outside parties such as Universities, CRO entities and Customers. This position will work closely with POET Research, Inc. to develop and valuate potential new/novel animal feed co-products from the bioprocessing facilities.

Job Summary
The Technical Service Director will support sales and marketing functions for POET Bioproducts. In addition to supporting the commercial business platform, this position will assist with research projects being conducted both in-house and with outside parties such as Universities, CRO entities and Customers. This position will work closely with POET Research, Inc. to develop and valuate potential new/novel animal feed co-products from the bioprocessing facilities.
DURING A TYPICAL DAY
- Address technical and nutritional questions related to POET’s line of co-products and their use in the feed industry.
- Serve as an interface between POET and Industry/University Nutritionists.
- Help develop protocols, manage research projects, prepare reports and oversee the associated budgets and execution of each approved research project.
- Complete regular product valuation and shadow price modeling in support of the POET Bioproducts product portfolio.
- Assist the POET Bioproducts Sales Team in developing various product support materials including technical materials.
- Present at conferences in support of POET’s ongoing commercial efforts.
- Help maintain the POET Bioproducts library/database on livestock nutrition, feeding practices, research, and applications as it pertains to ethanol co-products.
- Mentor staff skills, development and professional growth in the area of basic animal nutrition.
- Provide superior, timely customer service as directed by the POET Bioproducts Sales Team.
- Interface with other POET entities to help bring novel/new products to a commercially viable scale.
- Assist POET bioprocessing facilities through troubleshooting and on-site training as it relates to co-product quality and the impact on animal performance.
- Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
- Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
- Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skill may be put to a lot of other uses!
- M.S. or PhD in Animal Health Science or a similar field is required.
- Experience in Aquaculture Nutrition is desired.
- Commercial ration formulation experience or demonstrated knowledge/competence required.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment while meeting multiple deadlines.
- This person must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with little supervision.
- Proficiency in Process Information (PI) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) software is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.
- Up to 40% travel will be part of the norm for this position. Some international travel may be required.
- In this role, you’ll be asked to drive a POET vehicle. A motor vehicle record check will be conducted during the preemployment process.
- This position operates in an office environment working at a personal computer where you may sit or stand.
