About This Position
The Class 1 Journeyman Lineman performs skilled, complex, technical work involving the construction, maintenance, and repair of power distribution systems. They work with the Lead Journeyman to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant job performance. Duties of the Class I Lineman involves climbing poles and handling high voltages. This position works four 10-hour days plus mandatory standby duties.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- General knowledge equivalent to 2 years of college
- 4 years of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certified in the four-year correspondence studies of the City of Edmond, Electric Lineman Apprenticeship Training Program as a Class I Lineman
- Possess, or be able to obtain within 90 working days, a valid Class "A" Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements
- Maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
- Assist with activities of operating and maintaining the existing and/or new distribution system/facilities
- Perform work on energized primary circuits, secondary circuits, and non-energized circuits
- Climb poles or utilize bucket attached to a truck-mounted boom
- Construct, maintain, and repair distribution power lines
- Maintain tools, equipment, and materials and guard against loss or damage
- Ensure conformance to construction standards, code requirements, and specifications
- Contact property owners to gain permission for accessing their property
- Assume responsibilities of Lead Journeyman Lineman when assigned
- Provide input about employee development
- Ability to read and interpret electrical power circuit plans/specifications
- Thorough knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment involved in electrical distribution system work
- Willingness to perform standby duties
- Availability and willingness for call-back during off-duty hours
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings
