The Safety Specialist is responsible for fostering a safe and compliant work environment by guiding safety initiatives, ensuring the well-being of our team members, overseeing compliance, and developing a safety culture.
WORK SCHEDULE –
Expectation: Exempt on-site position, requires eight plus hours a day, multi-state travel required.

Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management or a similar role.

The Safety Specialist is responsible for fostering a safe and compliant work environment by guiding safety initiatives, ensuring the well-being of our team members, overseeing compliance, and developing a safety culture.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities –
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Provide safety training and education programs for employees to promote awareness and understanding of safety practices.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Maintain and update safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with management and employees to foster a culture of safety within the organization.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and trends to improve safety initiatives and reduce risks.
- Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies.
- Review and approve safety plans for new projects to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging safety regulations to ensure continuous improvement in safety programs.
- Coordinate modified duty and return-to-work processes in partnership with HR for work-related injuries.
- Create and maintain SOPs and training materials for safety practices and emergency procedures.
- Participate in Kaizen or Continuous Improvement events to integrate safety considerations into process enhancements.
- Track completion of corrective actions from audits and investigations to ensure accountability and closure.
- Act as a safety advocate across all departments, promoting employee engagement in safety initiatives and recognizing proactive behaviors.
- Support the rollout and implementation of safety-related initiatives, including digital reporting tools, safety inspection checklists, and incident tracking platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE –
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management or a similar role.
Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills
- OHSA certification required
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and other relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, ASP, or CHST) preferred.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective safety solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to train and educate staff on safety protocols and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel to all branch locations.
- Willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
