The Senior Content Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and performance of the organization’s content and marketing strategy in alignment with business and brand objectives. This role leads the content strategy while serving as the organization's marketing lead, integrating multimedia storytelling with broader brand, product, membership, and audience engagement strategies. As a senior member of the Strategic Communications team, the Senior Content Manager ensures cross-functional alignment, supervises the Graphic Designer, and collaborates with external partners to deliver high-impact, multi-media content that supports brand growth and lead generation.

Position Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive multi-media content strategy focused on reaching overall organizational goals as well as increasing brand awareness, audience engagement, and lead generation.
  • Lead integrated marketing campaigns in partnership with program, membership, and development teams, ensuring alignment across channels and touchpoints.
  • Manage the creation of high-quality, audience-centered content, including video, blogs, case studies, research reports, website content, email campaigns, and social media.
  • Create and maintain an editorial calendar, content development workflows, and approval processes to support cross-functional collaboration and timely execution.
  • Use segmentation strategies to tailor content to core audience groups and personas, including policymakers, advocates, early childhood system leaders, the child care workforce, CCAoA members, and other industry and adjacent professionals.
  • Plan and manage the development of multimedia assets that support membership/events/product marketing, brand storytelling, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Analyze performance metrics and user engagement data to optimize content strategy and performance across platforms.
  • Oversee content audits and lifecycle management, ensuring regular updates, repurposing of evergreen content, and removal of outdated materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support event and conference content needs, including digital displays, handouts, microsites, and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and internal content producers as needed to meet campaign goals and production timelines.
  • Ensure brand voice, messaging consistency, and design alignment across all content.
  • Maintain web and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, HubSpot), apply SEO best practices, and ensure content accessibility and compliance (e.g., ADA, WCAG standards).
  • Oversee email marketing strategy, including audience segmentation, content planning, automation, and performance optimization through tools like HubSpot.
  • Supervise the Graphic Designer, providing creative direction, management, and prioritization of all work.
  • Provide support and management of high-priority initiatives and cross-functional projects as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in digital content management, strategy, and creation, preferably in education, early childhood, human services, or another closely related mission-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing direct reports and external vendors.
  • Expertise in content planning, storytelling, and message development tailored to multi-media platforms and diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret data and make strategic communications and marketing recommendations based on performance metrics.
  • Experience with web and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, HubSpot), SEO tools, and marketing automation software.
  • Skilled at cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement at multiple organizational levels.
  • Exceptional communication, project management, and organizational skills.
