SCHOOL NURSE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Robert F. Kennedy Academy is a
therapeutic day school that provides educational and clinical services
to students with diverse abilities and disabilities, including those in
the emotional, psychiatric, and learning realms. The school\'s
curriculum and support services assist students in reaching milestones
such as graduation, the transition to post-secondary educational and
vocational opportunities, or the return to public school. A small school
by design, RFK Academy creates individualized learning opportunities and
accommodations while establishing a community of learners among students
for whom connections to school have often been a challenge. POSITION
OVERVIEW: The school Nurse will oversee medical administration needs and
Address Medical Issues Affecting RFK Academy Students. RESPONSIBILITIES
Will complete duties of the school nurse, including routine screenings,
and requesting and maintaining school health records for the day
school\'s enrollment of 20-23 students. Advise staff on and address
day-to-day medical issues/needs and emergencies of students. Oversee the
administration of all medication and treatments for all students
according to guidelines set by the Massachusetts Department of Public
Health. Inventory control and record keeping according to state and
federal guidelines for all medications. He/she will communicate
effectively with Program Director in regard to student and
administrative issues. Participate in the ordering and storage of
medical supplies and medication according to program, state, and federal
guidelines. When necessary, help to create medical protocols for
specific student needs, including EpiPen training for staff. PROGRAM
COVERAGE: Flexible hours; on-site coverage of at least two four-hour
visits during school hours (8:30 am-2:45 pm) preferred. On-call coverage
(text or phone availability for infrequent brief medication or medical
questions) from 8:30 am-2:45 pm required. QUALIFICATIONS: RN Required;
BSN preferred. Current and valid License as a Registered Nurse from the
Massachusetts Board of Registration of Nurses Who We Are RFK Community
