Software Engineer

Erie Indemnity Company d/b/a Erie Insurance seeks a Software Engineer in Erie, PA, responsible for translating and developing requirements into workable software solutions. Specific duties include: (i) maintain and develop programs for use in business and IT automation; (ii) incorporate various accepted methodologies to design software and applications; (iii) incorporate development standards into outcomes and implement basic code and configuration changes; (iv) develop program logic for new, basic applications or analyze and modify logic in existing applications; (v) present unit tests to an engineer or project leader; (vi) perform supplementary work that contributes to the end product submitted by more experienced developers; (vii) code, test, debug, document, implement and maintain software applications; (viii) analyze requirements, and maintain, test and integrate application components; and (ix) effectively communicate with customers, teammates or other stakeholders to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications.

This position is located in Erie, PA, and offers a maximum of 52 remote (within the U.S.) workdays per year.

Must possess, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent), in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering Management, or a related discipline, plus two (2) years of experience in a related position.

Alternative requirements: an associate’s degree (or foreign equivalent), in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering Management, or a related discipline, plus four (4) years of experience in a related position.

The required experience must include one (1) year with each of the following: (i) Java development tools; (ii) Microsoft and Websphere app servers; (iii) SQL Server and Oracle databases; (iv) SDLC; and (v) Build Dev Tools. Experience can be concurrent.
