Position Overview
Under general supervisor, the Community Service Driver will transport community service workers to various community service projects. Driver is responsible for dropping off and picking up volunteers.

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
High school education and one (1) year experience driving, preferably in multi-passenger vehicles or delivery vans.
Required Licenses Or Certificates
Must possess a valid Mississippi driver’s license, with a passenger endorsement.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical requirements include light physical effort. It includes some bending, stooping, reaching and/or lifting. Working conditions are primarily outdoors.

Essential Job Functions

- Drives a van to and from community service sites.
- Pick up community service volunteers from their identified worksite.
- Maintain daily driving log.
- Attends to cleanliness and daily maintenance check of the vehicle; informs maintenance garage when vehicle is not operating satisfactorily.
- Responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Litter Crew Program and coordinate work crew litter projects throughout the City.
- When no Community Service workers are available, must be able to handle picking up litter and tires alone.
- Establish daily work schedules and establish priorities of roads that would benefit the most from a litter work crew.
- Operates a vehicle and equipment trailer to transport litter work crews to/from worksites along the state and county roadways in compliance with all highway safety laws and speed limits.
- Provides daily direction to litter work crews on site.
- Reports workers problems and misbehavior to a higher authority to ensure compliance with court orders.
- Maintains accurate records of the progress of individuals assigned to the litter work crew program and reports progress to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintains mileage records and vehicle maintenance reports.
- Complete inventory reports and maintenance records of the department's equipment and tools.
- Maintain and manage outreach and education programs centered on Litter Prevention.
- Responsible for documenting all litter activities.
- Responsible for maintaining and submitting all work-related reporting forms in a timely and accurate manner.
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Working knowledge of driver safety and maintenance regulations and policies.
- Operate a light vehicle, observing legal and defensive driving practices.
- Basic record-keeping methods.
- Ability to follow routes and maps to various locations.
- Ability to work with the public.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
