The Sanitation Department, City of New York (DSNY), seeks a full-time Director of Technology Operations, in the Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) to oversee and optimize our agency’s technology infrastructure, systems, and services. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Technology Operations, the Director of Technology Operations will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the agency’s IT infrastructure and will work closely with other IT leaders, business units, and vendors to support the organization’s technology needs and align IT operations with business objectives. Providing technical expertise across operational teams within the bureau, as well as providing support throughout the agency's various locations. Engage in 24/7 support of the IT infrastructure to ensure reliable and sustained uptime for our business operations.

The candidate should have a deep understanding of IT infrastructure, Systems, and Operations.

  • Have experience managing cross-functional teams and working collaboratively with senior executives.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing IT operational challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present IT information to various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret IT performance data and provide actionable insight.
  • Experience managing IT projects from initiation to completion.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS MANAGER (S - 10074

Minimum Qualifications

  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible full-time paid experience supervising or administering computer operations involving a large-scale mainframe, network, or multi-tier computer environment at least 18 months of which shall have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for a maximum of two (2) years of general experience described above. In the absence of a baccalaureate degree, undergraduate credits may be substituted for a maximum of two (2) years of general experience described above on the basis of 30 semester credits for six (6) months of experience.
  • A master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration or Management of Administration may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of general experience described above. In the absence of a master's degree, graduate credits in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration or Management of Administration may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of the general experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits for one (1) year of experience. However, undergraduate and/or graduate credits may not be substituted for the eighteen (18) months of experience in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity.

Preferred Skills

The candidate should have a deep understanding of the following programs. - Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Microsoft Virtual Desktop, ITIL, and ITAM processes and procedures. - At least 7 years of experience supporting Large Scale Applications, Servers, Database, and Providing End-User support. - Should have some knowledge and understanding of IT Security and IT Networking.
