We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to join our laboratory research team with a data analysis and biostatistics focus. This internship offers hands-on experience working with complex datasets, designing studies, and applying statistical methods to real-world clinical data. You will work closely with scientists and statisticians to support ongoing research projects and contribute to data-driven decision-making. The Research Intern will assist in the compilation and analysis of clinical data sets generated by amplicon sequencing, conventional culture, and routine laboratory chemistry.
Duties/Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to join our laboratory research team with a data analysis and biostatistics focus. This internship offers hands-on experience working with complex datasets, designing studies, and applying statistical methods to real-world clinical data. You will work closely with scientists and statisticians to support ongoing research projects and contribute to data-driven decision-making. The Research Intern will assist in the compilation and analysis of clinical data sets generated by amplicon sequencing, conventional culture, and routine laboratory chemistry.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Digitize paper laboratory records and organize values into analysis-ready formats.
- Assist in the design and analysis of clinical studies.
- Perform data cleaning and statistical analysis using R and excel.
- Generate data visualizations and summary reports for the internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in team meetings and present findings to cross-functional teams.
- Support the development of statistical protocols, documentation, and manuscripts.
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Practical experience in biostatistical analysis within a laboratory environment.
- Exposure to interdisciplinary research teams and real-world data challenges.
- Mentorship from experienced biostatisticians and researchers.
- A strong foundation for careers in biostatistics, data analysis, or biomedical research.
- Recently completed or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, biochemistry, or related field
- Completed coursework in statistical methods, experimental design and data analysis.
- Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (R is heavily preferred, but SAS or Python experience welcome)
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Able to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
- Successful track record writing manuscripts for publication is appreciated but not required.
