Position Overview
Join a growing and dynamic HR team as our Director of Total Rewards, where you’ll lead the strategy and execution of comprehensive rewards programs that drive impact across North America. This is a high-impact opportunity for a strategic, hands-on leader to shape the future of how we recognize, reward, and retain talent across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing compensation, benefits, retirement, wellbeing, recognition, and payroll programs. You’ll ensure these programs, including base pay, incentive plans, health and welfare benefits, retirement and savings plans (such as 401(k), profit-sharing, and regional equivalents), and employee recognition, are competitive, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with our company’s culture and business objectives.
The Director will partner closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver a cohesive total rewards strategy that attracts, motivates, and retains top talent while enhancing the overall employee experience. In Mexico, compensation and benefits are administered through a third-party vendor, with this role providing oversight and strategic partnership.

Key Responsibilities
Compensation & Incentives
- Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of compensation and incentive programs across North America (U.S., Canada, and Mexico), ensuring alignment with business and talent strategies.
- Conduct market benchmarking and analysis to inform salary structures, total compensation decisions, and internal equity.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR, and business leaders to ensure compensation programs are competitive, equitable, compliant, and support organizational goals.
- Partner with the HR Programs Manager to align compensation initiatives with broader HR programs and ensure effective execution of related projects.
- Oversee the third-party vendor relationship managing compensation in Mexico, ensuring performance, compliance, and contract expectations are met.
- Design and manage health, welfare, wellness, and employee recognition programs that enhance employee engagement and support a strong organizational culture.
- Ensure all benefit offerings are cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with current regulations, best practices, and business objectives.
- Oversee vendor relationships and contract management across benefits and recognition programs to ensure high service levels and value delivery.
- Stay current on industry trends and collaborate with internal partners to develop innovative, cost-conscious solutions.
- Lead the strategy and administration of retirement and savings plans (e.g., 401(k), profit-sharing, and regional equivalents), ensuring compliance, performance, and competitiveness.
- Manage plan communications and employee education initiatives to support strong participation and positive retirement outcomes.
- Maintain vendor relationships and regularly evaluate plan design and delivery to ensure a best-in-class employee experience.
- Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of payroll operations across North America, ensuring accurate and timely processing in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Integrate payroll, compensation, and benefits processes to support a seamless employee experience and organizational efficiency.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the payroll function.
- Support process improvements, documentation, audit readiness, and serve as a key escalation point for complex payroll issues.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to senior leaders on all aspects of total rewards.
- Communicate complex information clearly and effectively to various audiences, including executives, managers, and employees.
- Provide strong leadership and direction to cross-functional teams and vendors, fostering collaboration, accountability, and results.
- Champion a people-first, data-informed approach that supports talent attraction, retention, and engagement across the organization.
- Demonstrate the ability to set clear objectives, motivate teams, and guide achievement aligned with company goals, vision, and core values.
- Mentor, evaluate, and develop staff to enhance skills, morale, and operational efficiency.
- Delegate responsibility and authority strategically to maximize team strengths and effectiveness.
- Model a strong customer service mindset, anticipating needs and responding with urgency and positive action to internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive a results-oriented culture focused on prioritizing efforts that meet or exceed business goals and improve customer satisfaction.
- Foster an environment that values initiative, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience leading total rewards programs in the United States and Canada.
- Experience managing third-party vendor relationships.
- Strong track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and managing complex programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience working in a Windows environment.
- Proficiency with HRIS, compensation, benefits, and payroll administration software.
- Experience overseeing payroll functions.
- Master’s degree or professional certification in HR/Total Rewards (e.g., CCP, CBP, SPHR, CHRL).
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
