The Avalon Drop-In Center provides a safe environment for PEH to access resources, laundry facilities, food pantry, showers, receive crisis support, and build internal resources. The Access Center Specialist ensures that programming in the Avalon Drop-In Center is gender responsive, culturally relevant, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate. Under the supervision of the SUP Program Manager, the Access Center Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining drop-in center services, including peer support and transition services to clients accessing the drop-in center. The Access Center Specialist serves as a role model for PEH accessing the space and leads clinic activities and support services for the center.

- High School Diploma/GED
- Prior security experience required preferably in a behavioral health care setting.
- Training in nonviolent crisis intervention (preferred)
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred)
- Lived expertise regarding homelessness and/or SUD/COD preferred.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and support service provisions of contracts such as ICMS/PSH; Promote positive and supportive attitudes toward people experiencing homelessness (PEH) who have substance use and/or mental health problems.
- Develop and maintain rapport with Avalon Access Center participants while monitoring behavior.
- Greet and orient Avalon Drop-In Center participants.
- Navigate individuals to services they need including laundry, shower, food pantry, etc.
- Monitor safety of premises ensuring client and staff safety
- Perform crisis interventions to escalate situations that may arise.
- Provide reception and administration duties at front desk and facilities assistance.
- Provide harm reduction/overdose prevention services.
- Connect patients to MAT, HIV/HCV, housing services, transgender health, other services.
- Work in tandem with Harm Reduction Program outreach team, the Street Medicine Project, and the homeless mobile medical unit.
- Work with medical and behavioral health providers to ensure coordination of services and that all support service needs are met Create necessary infrastructure to advance program, including coordination with St. John’s providers and staff, as well as leadership and staff of partner agencies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and database of community resources and referral options for homeless patients.
- Supervise, coordinate, and monitor program evaluation activities.
- Audit case notes and care plans to ensure goals are met.
- Create and coordinate MOUs with all partner and referral agencies.
- Write and edit progress reports for affiliated grants by coordinating with relevant staff to collect the necessary data to report on achievement and evaluation of grant goals and objectives.
- Submit monthly reports and provide data on all affiliated programs and grant-related activities.
- Create presentations, trainings, and technical assistance tools for St. John’s providers and staff.
- Assist in the development of education/promotional materials for program and projects.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events as needed.
- Administrative duties such as auditing, billing, requisitions, and financial reporting.
- Other duties may be assigned or may be modified as business needs dictate.
