Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Telephone Triage team specializing in Pediatrics. This RN will provide remote clinical guidance via telephone to pediatric patients and their families, assess symptoms, offer clinical advice, and determine the appropriate level of care. The ideal candidate is skilled in clinical judgment, medication reconciliation, and pediatric assessment, and excels at patient communication.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform telephone triage for pediatric patients, including symptom assessment and clinical decision-making using established protocols
  • Identify urgent/emergent cases and direct patients to the appropriate level of care (ER, urgent care, or in-office visit)
  • Provide education to caregivers regarding symptom management, medications, and general pediatric health concerns
  • Document all interactions, patient concerns, assessments, and advice provided in the EMR system accurately and promptly
  • Conduct medication reconciliation, assess pain levels, review allergies, and update patient health history
  • Collaborate with pediatricians and care teams to coordinate care plans and follow-up
  • Schedule in-office appointments as needed based on triage assessment
  • Assist with maintaining clinical documentation and compliance with nursing best practices
  • Uphold high standards of patient confidentiality and customer service

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license in state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be current)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Pediatric nursing
  • Telephone Triage experience in a clinical or call center setting
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Experience documenting in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Pediatric nursing experience
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Experience with pain assessment, medication reconciliation, and pediatric symptom triage protocols
  • Background in pediatric clinics, outpatient care, or primary care settings
  • Strong familiarity with scheduling systems and clinic workflows
  • Bilingual skills are a plus

Work Environment

  • Telephone triage from [insert setting: on-site clinic, centralized call center, or remote]
  • Must be able to sit and talk on the phone for extended periods
  • Requires use of computer and EMR systems throughout the shift

Certification: Basic Life Support , Pediatric Advanced Life Support
