Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Club Y Site Director is responsible for leading the daily operations of the YMCA’s before-and after-school program for middle school students. This position ensures a safe, structured, and positive environment by supervising staff, managing program logistics, and fostering strong relationships with students, families, school partners, and the community. The Club Y Site Director upholds the YMCA’s commitment to youth development by overseeing the delivery of high-quality enrichment activities, supporting positive behavior, and creating a culture of belonging where all students can thrive.

Essential Functions

Program Oversight

  • Lead the daily operation of Club Y programming, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that aligns with YMCA values and youth development best practices.
  • Implement daily schedules and curriculum that support academic enrichment, leadership development, and physical activity for middle school students.
  • Model and enforce positive behavior guidance strategies, ensuring consistency across the team and promoting social-emotional growth among youth.
  • Ensure proper supervision ratios are maintained at all times and youth are actively engaged during program hours.
  • Lead the team to meet enrollment goals for the program site.

Staff Supervision

  • Supervise and support Club Y Advisors, providing daily guidance, coaching, and accountability to uphold program quality and staff professionalism.
  • Conduct regular team huddles or staff meetings to communicate expectations, share updates, and reinforce safety and engagement standards.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of site staff in collaboration with the Program Director.
  • Ensure staff members adhere to staffing schedules and make adjustments based on daily attendance of program participants.
  • Participate in performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address performance issues as needed.

Family & School Engagement

  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with families, serving as the primary point of contact for site-level communication and issue resolution.
  • Partner with school administration and personnel to ensure seamless integration of Club Y programming into the school community.
  • Communicate regularly with families through newsletters, calls, or brief in-person updates to share program highlights and student successes.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure full compliance with DHS and YMCA policies, including maintaining all required documentation, attendance records, and staff files.
  • Monitor and report incidents, accidents, or concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Manage site inventory and ensure equipment and supplies are used safely and responsibly.
  • Support data collection, enrollment tracking, and reporting as required by grants or funding sources.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be 21 years of age and pass pre-employment background checks/drug screening.
  • Four years of college with 2 years of experience administering a child care/educational

program, which includes staff supervisory experience OR

  • Two years of college with 30 hours in business or management, child or youth development,

or related field and 2 years experience administering a child care/educational program, which

includes staff supervisory experience OR

  • High school diploma with 4 years experience administering a child care/educational program

and 30 hours of TECTA administrator or Child Development Associate (CDA); staff supervisory

experience.

  • Current CPR/AED, First Aid and Child Abuse Training or obtain with 30 days of hire date.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position follows a primarily weekday schedule (Monday through Friday), with occasional evening and weekend hours required based on program needs and special events. This is an in-person role.

$16.00-$20.00
