Buyer

We are currently looking to fill a Buyer position for our client, a manufacturing company located in Yonkers, NY. This is a Permanent Direct Hire opportunity. Hours: 8:30-5:30 M-F (on-site). Salary: $61K

Job Description

Responsible for purchasing materials in terms of reasonable cost, delivery, quality, etc. based on the directions of purchasing management. The job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Issue Request for Quotations
• Negotiate price, delivery and quality
• Prepare comparison sheet in price, delivery and quality
• Vendor evaluation and/or selection
• Prepare price and delivery control sheet
• Expedite material delivery to meet production schedules
• Coordinate FAI or PSI etc. together with QA department
• Monitor receipt of materials which includes incoming and outgoing
• Issue Purchase Order by using SAP or other company computer system(s)
• Monitor and review invoices prior to submitting to management
• Investigate discrepancies between invoices and receiving reports
• Disposal of rejected/damaged/shortage materials
• Interface between purchasing and other departments
• Create various reports/spreadsheets
  
  

Qualifications

• Must have, at minimum, three (3) years work experience in purchasing/procurement and/or related jobs in railcar or equivalent manufacturing industry.
• Capability of handling sub-major vendors.
• Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must be proficient in Excel and Word.
