Cleveland Clinic Akron General offers comprehensive radiology services including diagnostics, nuclear imaging, interventional procedures and radiation oncology. Our department of more than 200 healthcare professionals performs more than 220,000 exams and procedures each year. As a General X-Ray Machine Operator, you will perform standard diagnostic radiologic procedures to include chest, abdomen, spine, extremities and skull within the practitioner's scope of practice.
This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working various shifts between 12:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Perform standard diagnostic radiologic procedures to include Chest, Abdomen, Spine, Extremities and skull within the practitioner's scope of practice.
- Operate Computerized and Digital Radiographic equipment.
- Perform patient exams quickly and efficiently to maximize productivity, patient flow and throughput.
- Understand the mechanics and technical components of each x-ray resource within the scope of practice.
- Keep resource inventories properly so that all supplies and equipment are on hand.
- Understand the computer systems used in the department (i.e. Radiology Information Systems, CCF orders systems, CCF scheduling systems).
- Function in other capacities of the Radiology Department Provides patient care and assistance.
- Assist the patients to provide them comfort throughout the visit.
- Report problems immediately to the Supervisor.
- Assist in maintaining the flow of patients in and out of the department.
- Establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of 12 classroom hours of instruction in accordance with the requirements of the State approved facility attended
- Appropriate clinical training of at least eight hours with proven competency for the clinical site in area (s) of practice (e.g., Chest, Abdominal, Spine, Extremities, and Skull x-rays)
- Current State Licensure as a General X-Ray Machine Operator (GXMO)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- One year of General X-Ray Machine Operator experience
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
