HealthForce Kentucky, in partnership with OCTC, is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Grants and Development Officer. This executive leadership role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for leading all fundraising efforts for the organization.

This position will develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive fundraising strategy with the support of the CEO and Board of Directors, including individual donor cultivation, grant writing, donor relations, corporate partnerships, and stewardship programs. This position requires regular travel.

Job Duties

Fundraising Strategy and Program Development

  • Develop and maintain a written fundraising plan, in collaboration with the CEO and Board
  • Set measurable goals, budgets, and timelines for fundraising initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the CEO.
  • Work with the marketing team to develop compelling promotional materials.
  • Ensure alignment between organizational operations and fundraising activities.
  • Maintain relationships with community partners, civic groups, and local/state/federal officials.
  • Oversee fundraising program budgets.

Donor Research and Prospecting

  • Research prospective donors.
  • Qualify prospective donors.
  • Maintain pipeline of donor prospects.
  • Actively maintain a database of donors and prospective donors and ensure accuracy of that database.

Donor Engagement and Direct Fundraising

  • Engage prospective donors via phone, email, and direct visits (requires travel).
  • Provide tours of HealthForce Kentucky facilities and facilitating introductions with key personnel.
  • Actively follow up with prospective donors and maintaining.
  • Involve others (CEO, Board Members, and others) in fundraising activities as necessary and appropriate.

Fundraising Programs

  • Manage an overarching fundraising program strategy that includes multiple program components.
  • Plan for and conduct an annual giving campaign.
  • Manage a major gift program.
  • Establish opportunities for planned gifts.
  • Seek and manage grants, contracts, and philanthropic funds from foundations, corporations, state, and federal agencies that support the mission of HealthForce Kentucky.

Donor Relations

  • Develop a donor relations and stewardship program that adequately recognizes donors for their contributions to HealthForce Kentucky.
  • Establish and administer policies and procedures that maintain the highest level of stewardship and integrity in overseeing the investments and use of gifts, including but not limited to endowments.
  • Develop tools and opportunities for regular communication with donors.
  • Seek long-term donor commitments.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree with eight (8) years’ relevant work experience or equivalent.

Must have a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Skills Requested:

  • Advanced knowledge of current fundraising principles and practices, capacity to provide visionary leadership for fundraising efforts, and oversee the progressive growth of an alumni giving and major donor development program.
  • Success in meeting fundraising goals, including demonstrated experience with donor solicitation and cultivation, caseload management, and identifying and securing major high value gifts.
  • Possess a strong commitment to excellence in education while working with a diverse population.
  • Interact and communicate professionally.

  • Manage multiple concurrent activities.
