Description

As the Color Operations Supervisor at Shawmut, you will be an expert in color formulation, ensuring that our dyed fabrics meet customer specifications with precision and consistency. In this critical role, you will bridge communication between production departments, new product development, and senior management, facilitating the seamless flow of information. You will thrive in a fast-paced textile environment collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results. Your expertise in color science and problem-solving skills will be instrumental in maintaining Shawmut’s reputation for excellence in fabric production.

Responsibilities

  • Manage our color formula line-up. Develop and maintain accurate color formulas, overseeing matching processes and shade corrections to meet customer specifications.
  • Coordinate the purchasing of dyes and chemicals, collaborating with vendors to resolve quality issues, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Maintain inventory of dyes and chemicals, conducting month-end cycle counting to ensure availability and accuracy.
  • Work closely with the dyehouse team to troubleshoot color-related production issues, review samples, and implement shade corrections as needed.
  • Supervise and mentor department employees, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or as required.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Degree in Color Science, Textile Design, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a textile lab setting is preferred.
  • Robust understanding of color theory, color matching, and blending techniques.
  • Knowledge of dyes, dyeing techniques, textile structure, and their influence on color appearance.
  • Exceptional problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with all departments.
  • Experience with color matching software and programs (Datacolor).
  • Must rate Superior on Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Color Vision test.
