Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture roles with demonstrated leadership capacity.
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, ETL development, and orchestration (e.g., Airflow).
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization and reporting tools, especially Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management and database performance tuning.
  • Ability to lead initiatives and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in fuel, logistics, or commodity industries is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies in the context of data automation and integration.
  • Experience with process mining tools.
  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps environments.
  • Certifications in cloud platforms or data engineering preferred.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Engineer to lead the development and management of our enterprise data infrastructure and reporting capabilities. As part of a small but growing technology team, this role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of key projects and strategic initiatives, with direct impact across the organization.

This role will play a critical part in our broader technology vision, which includes integrations, automation, and leveraging AI technologies to enhance data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong collaboration and leadership skills.

  • Essential Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and document existing data architecture across on-prem and cloud-based environments (Microsoft SQL Server, AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Design and develop enterprise-grade datasets to support self-service reporting and advanced analytics.
  • Build and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using Python and orchestration tools like Airflow.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting solutions in Power BI for business and operational use cases.
  • Collaborate with Software Development teams to integrate new applications and enhance existing systems through data connectivity.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager and business stakeholders to ensure accurate, consistent data for reporting and business logic alignment.
  • Manage and optimize databases for performance, scalability, and reliability—including archiving, tuning, and backup strategies.
  • Mentor and manage a junior DBA, setting best practices and providing oversight on database operations.
  • Participate in planning and executing AI-driven automation and integrations, aligning with future-state architecture and business process transformation.
  • Establish and enforce data governance, security, and quality assurance practices.
