This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Port of Alaska

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00. 4/10s schedule is negotiable.

LOCATION: 2040 Tidewater Road

** Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range. **

:

: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, and eight

  • years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field.

OR

Associates degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Studies, or a discipline related to occupational health and safety, and six

  • years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field.

OR

Bachelors degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Studies, or a discipline related to occupational health and safety, and four

  • years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field.

OR

Masters degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Studies, or a discipline related to occupational health and safety, and two

  • years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field.

Must Possess And/or Obtain

  • Valid State of Alaska Drivers License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • American Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certifications or equivalent within 90 days of hire.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Organization Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification or equivalent within 90 days of hire.
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.

Preference

  • OHST, CHST, ASP, CPR instructor.
  • CS 100-400, and ICS 700 and 800b
  • Must be physically capable to walk short and long distances on the port, climb stairs and ladders, in order to conduct safety assessments and verify reported hazards, when the need arises.
