Summary

The Production Supervisor plays a critical, hands-on role at Northline Seafoods’ Bellingham, WA processing facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position oversees daily operations on the processing floor, ensuring production targets, safety, quality, and compliance standards are consistently met. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments with a strong understanding of seafood processing operations.

Essential Duties

  • Execute the daily production schedule by directing personnel and monitoring workflow to meet targets efficiently and safely.
  • Supervise production line staff, provide clear instructions, hands-on guidance, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Enforce HACCP, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and internal safety standards. Conduct routine safety checks and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control team to ensure all seafood products meet internal and regulatory quality standards.
  • Support onboarding and cross-training of team members to ensure consistency in processes and compliance.
  • Work with maintenance personnel to identify and report equipment issues, ensuring minimal downtime and safe operations.
  • Identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks; provide feedback and suggestions to the Plant Manager to enhance yield and flow.
  • Maintain accurate production logs, personnel records, and shift summaries to support performance tracking and compliance.
  • Liaise with cold storage, shipping, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operational alignment.
  • Offer regular performance feedback to promote accountability, growth, and a positive work culture.

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge of seafood production, HACCP, SSOP, and OSHA standards
  • Ability to manage schedules, solve problems, and maintain workflow
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills
  • Effective team leadership and communication
  • Adaptable under pressure and changing conditions

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in seafood or food production environments.
  • Prior experience with HACCP and food safety programs required.
  • Strong working knowledge of seafood processing equipment and operations.
  • Certification in food safety or production supervision is a plus.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Employees must be able to walk and stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn at all times.
