The Senior Director, Global Transportation Operations is a strategic leader responsible for developing and implementing initiatives to drive operational performance, optimize spend and transform transportation operations across both regional and inter-regional frameworks. This role is essential in delivering reliable, cost-efficient, and sustainable freight solutions that drive business growth and support positive patient outcomes and unlock value across both the Innovative Medicine and MedTech sectors.
The position provides end-to-end leadership of transportation execution and is accountable for embedding operational excellence and aligning with global supply chain pillars to support seamless product movement across the network. This leader will influence cross-functional decision-making, build strong internal and external partnerships, and engage with senior stakeholders to shape transportation strategies that support service, savings, and sustainability goals.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$173,000.00 - $299,000.00 USD Annual
Additional Description For Pay Transparency
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). Responsibilities
- Lead regional and inter-regional transportation operations while ensuring best-in-class performance, optimizing efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in alignment with global standards and regional requirements.
- Design and implement scalable transportation strategies that enhance network reliability, reduce cost-to-serve, and improve operational agility through best practices and continuous improvement methodologies. (Lean, JJOS, Six Sigma, etc)
- Foster cross-functional collaboration among supply chain, manufacturing, warehousing, customer service, trade compliance, commercial, procurement and distribution to ensure cohesive end-to-end execution and drive lead-time improvements .
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders by articulating the strategic value of transportation operations, spend management and securing alignment on key initiatives, investments and transformation roadmaps.
- Manage and strengthen external partnerships with transportation providers, third-party logistics partners, control tower partners and freight forwarders to optimize performance, foster innovation, and ensure adherence to service level agreements and compliance standards.
- Partner with Centralized Services group to deploy a robust performance management framework, with clear KPIs, SLAs, and governance routines that promote accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across internal teams and external partners.
- Drive adoption of digital tools to enable visibility, decision intelligence, and network optimization. Champion the use of analytics to predict disruptions, simulate scenarios, and inform strategic choices across the transportation value chain.
- Own transportation budgeting and financial performance, including forecasting, cost controls, and the development of cost-avoidance and savings initiatives that unlock value without compromising service reliability or quality.
- Develop, inspire, and lead a high-performing transportation team, cultivating talent, driving a culture of operational excellence and innovation, and strengthening cross-cultural and cross-regional collaboration.
- Champion sustainability by integrating environmentally responsible practices into transportation strategy, such as route optimization, mode shifting, carbon footprint reduction, and alignment with corporate goals.
- Proactively manage risks by ensuring compliance with global trade regulations, safety standards, and internal policies. Anticipate disruptions and build resiliency through agile and responsive logistics design
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, International Trade, or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in transportation and supply chain operations, with demonstrated expertise in network strategy, supplier management, E2E orchestration, and operational excellence.
- Strong leadership experience managing large, geographically dispersed teams and fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture.
- Proven track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving enterprise-wide initiatives in complex, matrixed, and global environments. Demonstrated success in complex, highly matrixed, global organizations with rapidly changing priorities and tight timelines.
- Deep knowledge of the transportation and logistics landscape in respective region
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, manage complexity, and make informed, data-driven decisions.
- Strong critical thinking and project management skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment and manage complexity and ambiguity.
- Ability to manage large investments and design and translate strategic vision into tangible deployments to drive business value.
- Solid understanding of transportation cost drivers, with experience in deploying cost-reduction and productivity initiatives while enhancing service levels.
- Demonstrated success in balancing strategic thinking and operational execution, with a strong focus on value creation, risk management, and business continuity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international logistics, inventory planning, warehousing, trade compliance, and order fulfillment processes.
- High cultural awareness and the ability to lead in a diverse, global business environment, ensuring inclusive collaboration and communication.
