Responsible for a combination of medical billing and collections.
Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To
- Enter patient demographics from hospital EHR into our PM system.
- Post charges for assigned facilities.
- Work electronic insurance rejects daily to retransmit with corrected insurance information.
- Enter notes in the collection system of action taken.
- Communicate information needed for collections to the Director, RCM.
- Answer questions from patients, staff, and insurance companies.
- Identify and resolve patent billing complaints
- Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
- Follow-up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
- Send reconsiderations and appeals through insurance portals.
- Maintain strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School diploma or GED.
Skills/Experience
- Two plus years billing/collecting in the health care field is required.
- Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
- Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and doctors
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
