Jacksons is one of the leading convenience store operators in the western United States, with over 300 locations across multiple states. As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re seeking a visionary and experienced Vice President of Construction and Facilities to lead the development and maintenance of our physical footprint.

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Construction and Facilities will provide strategic and operational leadership over all construction, remodel, maintenance, and facilities functions across Jacksons Food Stores and related assets. This executive will lead cross-functional teams, oversee third-party contractors and vendors, ensure capital projects are executed on time and on budget, and uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build a culture focused on quality, accountability, and innovation.
  • Recruit, lead, and provide end-to-end development of new store construction, remodels, and site improvements across all markets.
  • Oversee the Facilities and Construction departments, including project managers, maintenance technicians, and vendor relationships.
  • Develop and manage multi-year capital improvement plans, including budgeting, forecasting, and prioritization of projects.
  • Ensure timely execution of construction timelines and maintenance response protocols.
  • Drive adherence to brand standards, ADA compliance, zoning/code regulations, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental, safety, and building codes, and stay updated on regulatory changes.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Operations, Marketing, and Leadership teams to align physical development with company goals.
  • Lead contractor bidding processes, contract negotiations, and performance evaluations.
  • Direct the development of interior and exterior store designs, including layout planning, finish selection, fixture standards, and branding elements that enhance the retail experience.
  • Oversee external architects, engineers, and general contractors. Lead the bid process, scope development, and contract negotiations to ensure quality, consistency, and value.
  • Build and manage the capital construction budget, prioritizing investments based on growth strategy, ROI, and market opportunity.
  • Develop and maintain construction playbooks, design guidelines, and project tracking systems that ensure quality, repeatability, and efficiency across all builds.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field or related advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in facilities management and commercial construction, preferably within retail, fuel/convenience, or QSR sectors.
  • 5+ years of experience managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion, including complex scheduling and resource management.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-site capital projects and large facilities teams. Deep knowledge of architectural design principles, retail layout planning, building code compliance, and permitting.
  • Experience with vendor and contract management.
  • Expertise in project management tools, budgeting, and compliance standards.
  • High level of business acumen and the ability to work cross-functionally with senior leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders and drive project success.
  • Self-motivated to work through complex problems and competing priorities, including a high level of detail and organization.
  • Experience in cross-functional leadership and executive reporting capabilities. While displaying professional demeanor with diplomacy and the ability to build relationships.

Travel: Up to 25%

Physical Environment: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
