The successful candidate will join a research project titled “Evaluating Free-Farrowing Systems – Impacts on Sow and Piglet Welfare, Mortality, and Productivity,” under the supervision of Dr. Terri O’Sullivan and Dr. Anne Deckert. Eligibility Requirements
- Master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in epidemiology, animal science, veterinary medicine, or related fields
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Interest in animal welfare and swine production systems
- Willingness to conduct on-farm research and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Experience with behavioral observation, statistical analysis, or swine management is an asset, but not required
- Data collection at the Ontario Swine Research Centre
- Behavioral scoring and welfare assessments
- Performance and mortality data analysis
- Publishing scientific articles and participating in knowledge mobilization
